BASICS: The X20+ Mod is intended for use with the Unofficial Patch v10.0. It should run smoothly in that context. No assurances are given if you use it with another version of the Unofficial Patch, or with any other mod.
WHO

The X20 Mod is created by Ian A. A. Watson. I've previously contributed changes to the Unofficial Patch (under the name IanW, from the PlanetVampire forums), and am currently the Community Manager for Onyx Path Publishing. OPP is licensed by White Wolf to publish the World of Darkness (WoD) tabletop RPGs, and many of us have been working on the WoD as part of the original White Wolf, stretching as far back as White Wolf Magazine in 1986.
WHY
===
Vampire: The Masquerade - Bloodlines (VTMB) is a fantastic game, but it seems that Activision and/or Troika only had the license to use parts of the World of Darkness specific to Vampire: The Masquerade. There don't seem to be any references to other WoD properties, such as Werewolf: The Apocalypse, Mage: The Ascension, Wraith: The Oblivion, and more.
In order to make VTMB feel like it more squarely fits within the WoD, I've decided to make a fairly simple mod to replace some of the game's existing textures -- posters, billboards, magazines, video screens -- to both remove some of the more jokey elements and also to reference those other World of Darkness properties. A newspaper clipping referencing the Devil's Night Riots from 2002, or a bus stop poster advertising the Orpheus Group: all provide little notches that can help WoD fans view VTMB as one piece of a larger puzzle. Even if a VTMB player isn't a WoD fan, perhaps these references might inspire them to investigate further.
For best results, play with a second monitor or your phone open to the White Wolf Wiki (https://whitewolf.fandom.com/wiki/Main_Page) while you play. If you don't get a reference -- say, if you see "Mikaboshi" scrawled somewhere -- look it up and start digging into some good juicy lore.
HOW
===
The X20 Mod+ is was designed with the Unofficial Patch in mind. The X20 Basic mod is simply textures, so can be installed on top of any other mod with little difficulty. However, given that the X20 Plus mod alters dialogue files, computer terminals, and other -related features, it's not recommended that they be installed on anything but the Unofficial Patch, and preferably on a new save file.
This zip file does not contain the textures from the Basic version of the X20 Mod. If you want the full effect, please install both.
If you want it to apply to all your Bloodlines installations, regardless of the patch you're using, extract the contents of the zip into:
[your Bloodlines folder]\Vampire\
If you want it to apply solely to the Unofficial Patch, extract the contents of the zip into:
[your Bloodlines folder]\Unofficial_Patch\
A new desktop icon (x20icon.ico) is also included, which you may use as an alternate icon for your VTMB desktop shortcut.
