I'm not banging my head as you say...When Edge updates, it gets rid of the search engine and the add on's..I'm not that thick as to use theirs..In firefox I use duckduckgo which is always there and so are the add ons even after updates. The only time I use edge is because certain websites like Argos don't always work when it get's to the paying bit.
Might want to try Chrome browser. It has the same Basis as edge but is more comfortable, at least for me. It is my preferred browser. Edge has always been screwing around with my Bookmarks and settings. That is why I do not use it. Alternative you can try Opera browser
I have all my credentials with Google Chrome, since my smartphone sync with Google Account, but no problem by using in Edge as well .. both Google Account and Microsoft Edge communicates without any problem .. and about the data import may wanted to use Edge://Flags command and enable the feature manually ..
At first Edge don't allow me to export passwords, but even though I re-installed Windows 11 many times, each time I start Edge for the first time it asks for me to sync with Google Account and all bookmarks and passwords all synced automatically without any problem ..
