Thank you for your help, Xploit Machine. I tried clearing the contents of the C:WindowsSoftwareDistribution folder and restarting my PC, but I'm still encountering the same error when attempting to install the updates. Any other ideas?

It sounds annoying! You could try downloading the updates from the Microsoft Update Catalog or using the Windows Update Troubleshooter. In addition, make sure there is enough storage space on your PC for the update.
